We had our road show gazebo up yesterday and took lots of artefacts to the centre of Lincoln for people to handle and talk to us about. We talked to hundreds of people and answered some thoughtful and interesting questions about archaeology (or at least tried to!). Kids played an object matching game and made pots out of play dough. It was a very hot day so a really big thank you to everyone that helped.
Come and join us on Monday 15th July in Castle Hill, Lincoln. We will be bringing lots of artefacts for you to look at and handle during the day. We will be there from 10.00am – 4.00pm outside the Tourist Office.
There will be a chance to have a chat with people from local community archaeology groups and to find out how to join in with their activities.
Welcome to our community archaeology outreach project. Based at Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. This two year project aims to make working with archaeological finds in Lincolnshire more exciting than you could ever imagine! Over the coming months keep an eye on this site and we will keep you up to date with our events and activities – ranging from our Open Lab days through public Road Show events to school visits and workshops. We’ll also be posting useful information and guidance on processing, recording and archiving archaeological finds. For more information about the project take at a look at our ‘About the Project’ page using the menu link above.
